View Project PeopleCode without Importing Project Files

If you are a PeopleSoft developer you have probably spent countless hours on developing or modifying an application using PeopleCode and the application designer. Usually, you export the project to a file so that you can take them with you if you should leave your current project. So, what if you wanted to look at your code without importing the project?

Below is a great tip/tool from a colleague of mine that will allow you to view your project PeopleCode through your browser.

Let's assume tha… Continue

SQL Developer - An Awesome Free TOAD-Like Tool

If you are a developer and use SQL Plus or if you want to use TOAD but can't get your company to fork over the money for a license, you should grab Oracle's free SQL Developer tool. It's a free and fully supported graphical tool for database development.

You can browse database objects, run SQL statements and SQL scripts, and edit and debug PL/SQL statements. You can also run any number of provided reports, as well as create and save your own.

This application has proven to be a very good tool… Continue

There are many enhancements in this release that improve the users experience including Dynamic user interfaces that include partial page refreshes without having to take a trip to the server, mouse-over pop-up windows, improved menu's and naviga… Continue

Upgrading Like a PeopleSoft Pro - Part VI

Defining Your Test Strategy
Although, you will not be performing the testing until a later time in your upgrade project, you will need to define the testing strategy before the project begins or soon after. Your testing strategy will provide the basis for understanding how you will test your newly upgraded applications. There are several points within the technical upgrade process where your developers will unit test programs, but the majority of testing will occur after your application… Continue

Hi,
I landed in USA on 21st Jan, 09 on H1B. Unfortunately things have not gone as per my plan. I am still on bench with no job. I am a peoplesoft administrator/upgrade specialist. As you know in a project e.g. 10 people, requirement for administrator would be only 1 or 2. As a result the requirement is less moreover another hindrance is visa status. I find that 70% requirements require consultant to have a green card or citizenship. As a result openings are rare.

Current situation is that I find around two requirements per week and they do not move i.e. materialize into an interview. This is a effect of the general uncertainity prevailing in the country. As per my suggestion my company has agreed to bear my return airfare to India and a professional training program on System administration + oracle dba. I feel this skill would certainly add value to my current profile if not open other job market i.e. Oracle dba.

I love my job but I also need a job to support myself. I would love to be wrong but my logic says there is no future as psadmin/dba in USA and I should become a functional or techno-functional in order to survive in this market. What is your opinon about the market? Do you think we get lot of requirements for psadmin or this is the way it is?

I would be grateful if you take time off to give me some direction on this.

Regards,
Prasenjit
